EPIC’s WellSpent event returned on Thursday, October 21, bringing together business, healthcare, and economic development professionals to discuss healthcare as an economic impact driver.
WellSpent is a regularly recurring event created to educate, influence, and persuade key stakeholders on the importance of healthcare as a key driver of the economy. It is a project of the Employer Provider Interface Council (EPIC), a group dedicated to bringing employers and providers together to facilitate change in the marketplace toward more value and less waste.
“EPIC strives to establish clear lines of communication across business, economic development and healthcare throughout the Southeast,” says Dr. Randy Vogenberg, board chairman of EPIC and Co-Chair of the WellSpent program. “We want to increase opportunities for business and communities of each Southeastern state.”
“Past attendees speak highly of our content, and they have been able to take ideas back and put into action in their own organization and community”, says Murray Harber, Co-Chair, WellSpent-Southeast and & EPIC Founding Board member.
Each WellSpent event features a panel of local officials, as well as an opportunity for participants to discuss ideas with fellow professionals. The October session aims to focus on 1) promoting healthcare as a contributor to success in a competitive marketplace and 2) creating healthcare value within the local or state economies for improving economic development efforts. Additional topics will include affordable access to quality healthcare, access to greenspace, and the impact of the opioid epidemic.
